Break Time Quick Guide
- 15 Minute Breaks are assigned to a fixed schedule unless otherwise approved or changed by your manager
- A “Break” is considered any time an employee is clocked out from 2-15 minutes
- 5-minute grace period (break unpaid if you go over grace period)
- 1st Break (paid by NEF) – 15 minutes maximum
- If an employee goes over 20 minutes, the entire break becomes unpaid
- 2nd Break (not paid by NEF)
- IMPORTANT: Breaks are paid in straight time and do not accumulate towards overtime. Also, unlike Lunch, which is broken out into a separate line item (3rd) on your pay stub, Breaks are simply added in straight time to your “regular hours,” on your pay stub.
